Waterville property owner plans to rebuild after downtown fire
Property owner Sidney Geller said he wants to move quickly to rebuild on Silver Street, and the owner of The Last Unicorn restaurant, John Picurro, said he wants to work with Geller to reopen on the same spot.

State reduces scope of ‘do not eat’ advisory in Fairfield area for wildlife due to ‘forever chemical’ contamination
The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife warned people in 2021 not to eat deer and other game found in a 125-square-mile area of central Maine, but the agency announced Monday it has reduced that area to 25 square miles, while also advising people not consume turkey harvested there.

Morning Sentinel/Kennebec Journal owner considering sale of his newspapers to new nonprofit
Reade Brower, who owns the Morning Sentinel in Waterville and the Kennebec Journal in Augusta, and other daily and weekly newspapers across the state, has been in preliminary discussions with the Maine Journalism Foundation.

Gardiner officials to consider a 4% increase in spending in the next budget year

Motorist knocks out power in Fairfield, forces closure of road after driving into utility pole, police say
Ricky Hamlin, 21, of Clinton, was charged with operating under the influence Friday after his pickup truck struck the pole on Main Street, according to Fairfield police Officer Casey Dugas.
