WATERVILLE — A slow start turned into the same old, same old for the Waterville Senior High School football team. The Purple Panthers used a strong running game and tough defense against the run to take a 50-20 win over Madison/Carrabec, improving to 6-0.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Lawrence’s struggles continue with loss to Westbrook
Westbrook made its case by gutting out an 8-3 victory over the Bulldogs. It’s the first loss at Keyes Field for Lawrence since being upset by Brunswick in the 2010 quarterfinals, and the first regular-season home loss for the Bulldogs since falling to Oxford Hills on Sept. 16, 2005.
